Awareness Through Movement® – How Will You Be, Reentering the Wider World?

…class was several days after I’d had a pretty serious fall at home. I sprained my wrist, bone bruise on the ischium, and compacted my spine. It’s all been very painful, but the thing that really upset me was that I felt like I was in shock all the time. Some of the class was too painful for me to do, but the biggest and best result for me was that at the end of class I felt I knew who and where I was again: “oh—I’m still here—this is me!” Magical mystery miracle! As the natural world reopens herself after winter, sending out shoots, blooms, and leaves, we also begin to reenter the various landscapes of life in community. Perhaps like the student above, we will be moving from restriction and a weary nervous system.

How shall we now enter into more openness, with more bodies, and less space between bodies? With willynilly excitement, driven by impatience? Or shall we explore outward with a grateful intention, aware of a stable center and reawakening boundaries? Join this ATM class and renew your firm sense of “who and where I am”. Even vaccinations cannot provide that!

These lessons will be on the floor. Please consider coming even if you cannot organize for a floor lesson. You can imagine all the movements and get benefit; it’s a different kind of learning for your brain; your body and functioning will respond. Think of Olympic athletes visualizing their routines!

I’m offering classes Monday evenings and Wednesday mornings. The weekly content will be similar for each class. Create a floor space that allows you to slide and move easily; so a towel or sheet rather than a yoga mat will be useful. The lessons engage your thinking, sensing, feeling, imagining and moving. They can be challenging, puzzling, and FUN!

Fee: $15/lesson, or $60 for 5 lessons
